Eating dinner in the Maier household was usually quite an adventure when Rose was old enough to clear the table and do the dishes. It was often dangerous to leave, even for a brief moment, your plate and other eating implements. If you got up to go to the fridge, a mere foot and a half away, when you turned around, you’d likely find your plate gone and already in the dishwasher. You could still be in the process of eating and Rose would be trying to take the plate away right out from under you. While wiping the table, Rose payed no attention as she quickly just brushed the crumbs to the floor. She seemed to always be in a hurry and her mind was elsewhere. I think this was mainly due to the fact that when she was done her chore she would be seeing Glenn.
